BREAKFAST ROOM "UPDATE" ~ "Country" to "sophisticated" - This was a rush situation, therefore, there was not enough time to remove the pinstripe wallpaper and the outdated border paper from the upper half of the wall. It is best to remove wallpapers, however, this is to be temporary and the papers were not peeling or torn. I painted over the papers and chose two shades of blue. My inspiration for the colors came from a newly purchased hand painted cabinet on an adjacent wall. I introduced a few well-placed stripes on some areas on the walls and painted a crown molding border at the cathedral ceiling edge. All the details were painted in the contrast color of the lower portion of the walls. I also "faux painted" a brown chair rail band of color to co-ordinate with the wood elements in the room. This chair rail application also helps to deepen this 13' x 6' space. The window received a fresh new approach with a new rod placed beyond the frame which makes the window appear wider and avoids blocking natural daylight. I added the ready-made panels in a subtle shimmer stripe pattern to co-ordinate with the golden accents in the room. The existing scalloped window shade became less boring by giving it texture with a "faux finish" application. The new two-chair dinette is sufficient for this couple and the very small space. The wood/iron/glass dinette is a welcome refresher to the room and the glass top is the perfect choice to help make this room seem larger. ................... Would you like bacon with your eggs?

"THE RITZ" Powder Room "MAKEOVER" ~ These clients wanted a classy Hotel "French" feel and wanted to include the classic "fleur de lis" element. They also asked for a picture of the Eiffel Tower to be in the room. My inspiration began with the three "fleur de lis" appliqued candlesticks. A tri-fold outdated mirror was replaced with an iron black/gold one. I used the existing gold sink fixture, due to the clients' budget, which happily adds to the gold touches throughout the space. The vanity cabinet boasts new life by repainting it gloss black. A narrow "text" art piece above the ledge, was a perfect rememberance of the words they shared in their marriage vows. The "not needed" towel bar was replaced by a round wood and iron plaque that was also repainted in gloss black. I found an "eiffel tower" print at a thrift store and resized it to fit behind the plaque to give the illusion that you are looking out through a window in France. The swag lantern replaced the tired ceiling fixture and now casts a romantic glow. The strong red painted walls and ceiling, brightens & creates drama to a small windowless room!
